Apparently for some odd reason my local library doesn't outright accept donations, however, here in MI one can make a request for a book.
And that is on my list of things to do.
good evening from "the great white north",jwd!
!..this is an incredible board..we are all so lucky to have our hosts, mods and (most)members of this site..lol!
!.....so many ideas.so many personalities.so much exchange of knowledge and ideas.right here on jwd!.....this thread was inspired by another thread..thank-you "hidden window"!.....i hope this thread inspires other "ideas",just like i was inspired by another thread......................many of us want to show our loved ones and the rest of the world, the "real wbt$".....we want to get our loved ones out of a "cult"..and..the international political world will bring the wbt$ down, when they can no longer disguise themselves as a religion.....the wbt$ is a political organization, disguised as a religious organization seeking "world domination"!.....most of us are not ready to take on a billion dollar organization, the wbt$.....we only want our families back!.....not all jw`s are ready to read ray franz`s:"crisis of conscience"..or..barbera andersons new cd:"secrets of pedophilia in an american religion.jehovah`s witness`s in crisis"..but..some are!

hello, my name is fr.
joseph price, i am a priest in the old catholic church of north america, i grew up a jw, was heavily involved in the organization until i removed my self after 17 years.
Why thank you Nvr! I don't want to come across all jw-y to people.
I especially liked this:
It's Catholicism Reloaded.
I honestly thought the web page was pretty interesting. I had heard of Old Catholic before but didn't know what they believe. So I really hope people take the time to visit the websites.

Hello, my name is Fr. Joseph Price, I am a priest in the Old Catholic Church of North America, I grew up a JW, was heavily involved in the organization until I removed my self after 17 years. Faced with having to start life over, redefining myself, and relearning my faith as a Christian, I have long desired ministering to JW's and ex-JW's alike. Once I completed my studies and was ordained a priest, I am finally able to devote the time required to outreach and support of those associated with the JW's. I am actively available both online and in person for speaking on JW's, their beliefs, practices and teachings, talking to individuals about their experiences with the JW's, and currently run a support group that meets once a month for socialization and discussion about JW's and our lives that were effected by the organization.
Link from his site re Old Catholic Church of NA:
The Old Catholic Church of NA is Not affiliated with The Church in Rome.
I'm not trying to be a beotch here, and I am not seeking to offend anyone, but there seems to be a large misconception of what Catholic Church he is affiliated with.
peace
to be more specific, something you have bought that has stood the test of time and fashion.. for me it was ralph lauren's classic navy wool jacket with his gold and red emblem on the pocket.
it cost a small fortune but for over 5 years i can throw that over a pair of jeans or a skirt and always feel like a million dollars.
i also have a jacket by dana buchman with a matching sweater that is gorgeous and never fails to make me feel good.. what was your best purchase?.
Those are great skirts! It reminds me of some of the ones I purchased (a now famous designer) back then whose name now escapes me. They were $50.00 a piece as I remember. (1974-1975) A huge amount of money, but they were so worth it! They were so much fun to wear.
Woe that is a lot of money for back then!
They are really fun to wear. I'm thinking I may actually purchase another one from their line tonight. They are so very comfy!!!

My hippie skirt from butterfly mama.
I bought it in the spring and have worn it through the summer and will wear it through the fall and winter.
ok, so we did the seinfeld thread, now how about homer, marge, bart, lisa and maggie?.
my favorite one has to be the one where bart gets help from homer to read a card at a presentation before mr. burns.. homer: "oooh boy card read good".. .
Didn't one JW say to the other, something like, "Why are we doing this? Let's stop
bothering people."
Yeah I think so!
I don't remember these other references. Going to have to get the season dvds. :D
pascal's wager.
blaise pascal offers a pragmatic reason for believing in god: even under the assumption that gods existence is unlikely, the potential benefits of believing are so vast as to make betting on theism rational.
critics in turn have raised a number of now-classic challenges.
Do you believe because it makes you feel better?
Do you believe because the alternative is overwhelmingly horrifying to you?
Do you believe because you feel that in so doing, you have everything to gain and nothing to lose?
I have read some sincere people on JWD that believe for the above reasons.
What about you?
Is fear or calculated pragmatism driving your belief?
Can an all-knowing benevolent deity be satisfied with worship/belief motivated by either?
a) No
b) No
c) No
d) lol hmmm
I believe there is Something because both me and my husband, and incredibly close friends have experienced Ghosts. Not some impersonal energy that is just there and there were no strings attached
And ya know, spontaneous evolution just doesn't cut it for me. It just does not explain why there is another side.
NOW
I will readily admit I have not looked into the whole concept of parallel universes etc etc etc etc and I hope at some point I find enough of a reason to care to do so.
At which point it is entirely possible my "beliefs" may change.
Since I'm not exactly the sort of person that is into "worshipping" anything or anyone, I tend to think that it wouldn't be too traumatic of an event in my life
i didn't cry when my mother died.
i didn't cry when i saw her laying lifeless in the hospital bed, nor did i cry at the funeral.
my mother used to say bring me my flowers while i'm alive.

I think you have been a pretty strong person to be here and give the support that you are able to.

Lol, the one that comes to mind.....
The one where Marge and Lisa go out to get a new door bell and then the Jehovah's Witnesses come to their door.
But they don't ring the bell.
They say something like
"Let's go get real jobs. Maybe we don't have all the answers."
When I first saw that one I was JW, and was so "offended", now I find it hysterical.
